Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today chaired a review meeting regarding physical and financial status of works being achieved under AMRUT scheme, provisions to ensure adequate water supply connections and uninterrupted electricity in Kargil.

The meeting was attended by Councilor Kargil Town Haji Abass, Chief Engineer PHE and I&FC Ladakh Ved Prakash, Chief Engineer PDD (Distribution wing) Ladakh Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Superintending Engineer PHE and I&FC Kargil Tashi Tundup, besides concerned officers and engineers of PHE, PDD and I&FC were present during the meeting.
During the meeting, concerned officer of the I&FC Department informed the meeting that under AMRUT scheme, out of total Rs 37.47 crores, around Rs 14.14 crores expenditure has been done. Around Rs 1.10 crores remains in balance and around Rs 2.5 crores is in liabilities.
CEC Khan directed the concerned officers to immediately draft a proposal and discuss the issue of liabilities with the Director for an immediate solution to it.
The CEC further directed the concerned officer to discuss with Deputy Commissioner Kargil regarding utilization of the remaining available balance under the AMRUT scheme.
While addressing the issues raised by Councilor Haji Abass pertaining to the water scarcity in Kargil town especially in Chanchik, Lankore, Bagh-e-Khomeini and other adjoining areas, Khan directed the concerned officers of PHE and I&FC to keep provision of installation of additional bore well for alternate arrangement in these areas to meet out water scarcity.
The concerned officers of I&FC requested the CEC to keep the reactivation provision in CAPEX budget and assured that the matter will be discussed for possible consideration soon.
The meeting also discussed various arrangements and measures to ensure continuous power supply in Kargil town.
Chief Engineer PDD Ghulam Ahmed Mir assured that the power supply in Kargil town will remain uninterrupted during the summer season and also assured that the urgent works of Kargil town related to power supply will be considered on priority.
