KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 25, 2021 Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil chaired meeting to discuss the Comprehensive Sewerage System and STP Design for Kargil City at Council Secretariat Kurbathang here today.
Councilors of Kargil Town, Poyen and Baroo Minjee constituencies Haji Muhammad Abbas, Haji Muhammad Amin and Sheikh Ghulam Mehdi, Superintending Engineer PWD Kargil Er Ved Prakash, Executive Officer MC Kargil Shafaqat Ali Khan, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, Executive Engineer PHE Subhash Chandra, Municipal Ward Members, team of Ecofirst-TATA Enterprise besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Vice President Ecofirst Dr Shailendra Singh Solanki and his team gave a preliminary design presentation on Comprehensive Sewerage and STP design for Kargil City during the meeting.

The meeting discussed in detail the need of sewerage system, approaches and methodology, work progress, site visit and investigations, zoning of different areas, mapping, concept plan and design, stakeholder consultation process, treatment for sewerage, observations/challenges, case studies, technology selection options and other related aspects.
CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan said that exercises the agency has done are convincing and they should continue to work at the same tempo, however the focus should be to make it an economically viable project keeping in view the recurring cost, adding he directed to give a financial model about the project.
The CEC added that the major requirement is to club the sewerage treatment plant project with the PHE works, and the matter will be taken up with the Director Urban Development Ladakh in due course of time.
CEC Feroz Ahmad Khan said that all the works should be taken up in due consultation with the major stakeholders including the MC Ward Members. He stated that pertaining to acquisition of state land for the works there is no major issue, while in case of the acquisition of private land necessary procedure will be followed.
