KARGIL, AUGUST 15, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan inaugurated school bus and distributed free tablets among students at Government Higher Secondary School Silmoo here today.
The free tablets have been provided under YounTab Scheme of the Department of Education UT Ladakh while the school bus has been provided by the Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC) under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
On the occasion, Chief Education Officer Kargil Nazir Ahmad Wani, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kacho Mehmood Ali Khan, BDO Sodh, school staff, villagers and students were present.
CEC Feroz Khan while speaking on the occasion congratulated people on the 75th Independence Day and highlighted the importance of the day. He congratulated the people on getting the bus service and asked the school management to arrange the timing in such a way to ensure boarding of all students on the bus to reach school on time.
CEC Khan further assured the school authorities that if the enrolment increases and one bus is not enough, then more buses will be provided. He appealed people to enrol their children at this school that would lead to improvement of its academic and other performance, and assured to develop the hostel properly to provide boarding facilities to both teaching staff and students.
Regarding the community classes, the CEC said that the move has been appreciated not only in UT Ladakh but also at the national level. He assured that if the situation allows, schools will be opened for 6th class and above after Muharram. He urged the teaching staffs, village education committee members and students to give their best to improve the academic performance at the school.
The CEC Kargil further assured to take measures to fill up the vacant posts of teaching staff all over the district in a phased manner in consultation with the UT Administration.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO Nazir Ahmad Wani informed that the tablets have been provided to Class 12th students in Science and Arts stream. He further said that by the end of August this year, tablets distribution will be completed in the district.
Meanwhile, the school management put forward their demands which included the filling up of vacancies of teaching staff, renovation of school fencing, provision of furniture and PA system, sports equipments, electricity to the school and other related issues.
The CEC gave a patient hearing to all issues and assured of suitable follow up measures.
