Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended distribution of induction cooker stoves to Anganwadi workers of Ladakh at SSK hall, organized by Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) and PDD Ladakh.
At the event the extensive distribution of induction cooker stoves to Anganwadi centers across Ladakh as part of an energy efficiency program.
In his address, CEC, Kargil highlighted the EESL distribution of 40,000 rechargeable bulbs, emphasising its positive impact on energy conservation in Ladakh.
He urged the agency to reconsider its activities in energy consumption, stressing the importance of community participation through public gatherings, awareness campaigns, and educational sessions to enhance energy efficiency.
Considering Ladakh’s unique topography, the CEC proposed that conventional energy consumption could be substantially reduced, aligning with the vision of the Prime Minister.
The CEC emphasised the importance of abundant water resources in Ladakh, which have huge potential for generating economically vibe hydropower and suggested for innovative approaches for the adoption of unconventional ideas to reduce the carbon footprint.
Addressing the MoU between EESL and Ladakh health institutions for space heating, he encouraged the agency to share progress with LAHDC Kargil, to replicate successful models.
CEC Dr Jaffer called for investments in research and development, positioning EESL as a leader in new energy efficiency techniques globally.
Expressing the commitment to support energy efficiency and conservation programs, he urged collaboration with both Hill Councils for equal implementation across the UT.
Advocating for sustainable space heating through geothermal energy, CEC Kargil, emphasized the need to reduce the impact on Ladakh’s fragile ecosystem.
While acknowledging the event organizers, he wished EESL success in future endeavors and extended an invitation to Kargil.
Further, he urged the Commissioner Secretary to consider doubling the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers, aligning with minimum wage standards.
Meanwhile, he said the LAHDC, Kargil is committed to extend energy efficiency and conservation programs throughout the region, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly Ladakh.
