Celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week

Kick started with the integrity pledge on October 31, 2023, University Institute of Applied Management Sciences, Panjab University (UIAMS) celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week by conducting workshop and expert talks.

A workshop on Cyber Security was conducted by Mr. Nakul Phull, a renowned expert in the field of Cyber Security. Mr. Phull began the seminar by discussing the importance of Cyber Security in today’s digital age. He highlighted the various threats that individuals and organizations face in the cyber world, including hacking, phishing, and identity theft. He also discussed the various measures that can be taken to protect oneself from these threats, such as using strong passwords, keeping software up-to-date, and being cautious while sharing personal information online. The seminar also covered the various career opportunities available in the field of Cyber Security. Mr. Phull discussed the growing demand for Cyber Security professionals and the various skills required to succeed in this field. He also shared his own experiences and insights on the industry. The seminar was highly informative and engaging, with attendees actively participating in the discussions and asking questions. The event was a great success, providing valuable insights into the world of Cyber Security and its importance in today’s digital age.

Another talk on “Digital Detoxification” by Mr. BK Sourav Garg was organised in collaboration with Brahmakumaris. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the importance of taking a break from digital devices and social media to improve mental health and well-being. Mr. Garg shared his insights on the topic and provided practical tips on how to reduce screen time and manage digital addiction. The seminar was well-received, and participants appreciated the opportunity to learn more about digital detoxification and its benefits.

An Expert talk on Mental Health was organised in association with the Department of Laws, under the event “Brave Talk” which was supported by the Global Cosmetic Brand Maybelline, New York in partnership with the organization “We are Yuvaa”. Ms. Vaibhavi Rani Maske, a Mental Health Advocate and a professional lawyer, was the key resource for this talk. She spoke about the rising concern for mental health among young people. She stressed the importance of seeking help and breaking the stigma associated with mental health issues. In addition to providing students with helpful tips for managing their mental health, Ms Vaibhavi assisted them in identifying symptoms requiring mental health treatment. The session concluded with a Q&A session. Professor Monika Aggarwal, Director, UIAMS, and Professor Jyoti Rattan from Department of Laws facilitated the expert speakers. Around 500 Faculty, Research Scholars, and Students from UIAMS and the Department of Laws attended the session. Mr. Shrey, Mr. Navpreet, Mr. Nipun, Ms. Pihu were the students coordinating the event.
