Also demands relaxation for college in Rajsamand district
Jaipur, April 26. Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot wrote a letter to Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Shri Mansukh Mandaviya urging him to give early approval to the proposals of opening government medical colleges in Pratapgarh and Jalore and to make necessary amendments in the provisions to open a new government medical college in Rajsamand district.
The Chief Minister in his letter has requested to give approval under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme to the proposals for setting up new medical colleges at Pratapgarh and Jalore district headquarters and to give relaxation in the provisions for Rajsamand district.
Shri Gehlot further mentioned that there is no government medical college in Pratapgarh, Jalore and Rajsamand. The proposal for Pratapgarh and Jalore medical colleges has been submitted to the Union Health Minister by preparing a detailed project report (DPR), but they have not been approved till date.
The Chief Minister further wrote that new medical colleges can be approved only in that district which does not have any medical college in the government or private sector as per the provisions of the Centrally Sponsored Scheme. Due to this provision, students are deprived of the facility of a government college in the district that has a private medical college. There is a private medical college in Rajsamand district due to which a government college cannot be set up as per the provision of the scheme. In this regard, the State Government had requested multiple times in the past to make necessary amendment by reviewing the provisions pertaining to the scheme. Shri Gehlot said that the fees of private medical colleges are always high and every student cannot bear such burden.
