Urban Administration and Development Issues Directives to Urban Bodies

The work for Swachh Survekshan-2024 in the state is ongoing continuously. In this regard, urban bodies are being issued directives from time to time. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is collecting feedback from citizens on various social media platforms such as Vote for Your City Web, Vote for Your City App, and Swachhata App. These responses will influence the results and rankings of Swachh Survekshan-2024. The Directorate of Urban Administration and Development has instructed urban bodies to raise awareness in this regard. Urban bodies have been asked to carry out various activities in their cities.

The directives state that attractive banners, videos, and posts should be used on social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and X to widely promote feedback channels. Information about the efforts of the urban bodies should also be shared with citizens. Links for providing feedback should be shared with citizens on WhatsApp groups of municipal and other civic organizations. During community meetings, cultural events, and other gatherings, citizens should be made aware of cleanliness and encouraged to provide positive feedback.

The directives further mention that the urban body teams should visit neighborhoods and provide information about Swachh Survekshan 2024 and the efforts made in each household. The team should also include brand ambassadors and Swachhagrahi volunteers. Posters with QR codes and links should be displayed in public places like markets, schools, hospitals, bus stands, railway stations, etc. Pamphlets highlighting the importance of cleanliness should be distributed to citizens. It is mandatory for urban bodies to obtain citizen feedback from at least 10% of the city’s population for the survey. The Directorate has also instructed urban bodies to regularly send information about their efforts in this direction.
