(Visits Shubhkaran’s village. Says CM complicit in murder of Shubhkaran and demands case be registered against him)
Chandigarh/Bathinda, February 23
– Former union minister and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of going back on his word and not registering a criminal case against Haryana Police officials for murdering youth farmer Shubhkaran Singh besides ignoring the family in its moment of grief.
The Bathinda MP, who visited Shubhkaran’s village Balo and spoke to the youth’s grand mother, said it was shocking that no one from the government had visited the grieving family till yet. She also accused the chief minister of deceiving the entire farming community by not registering a case against Haryana Police officers and men who were responsible for Shubhkaran’s murder.
Asserting that Shubhkaran had been murdered by the Haryana government and that the AAP government had colluded with Haryana in this act, Mrs Harsimrat Badal said “a case should be registered against Bhagwant Mann is his capacity as home minister”.
Mrs Badal also expressed shock that the AAP government had done nothing till now to trace the whereabouts of seven farmers who had been picked up at the border and were stated to be in Haryana territory. “What is Bhagwant Mann waiting for ? Why is he doing nothing to stop the kidnapping of our youth and lobbing of tear gas, pellet guns and rubber bullets against them?”
The Bathinda MP said it was also condemnable that the chief minister had not met the Prime Minister to ensure the assurances given by the centre at the time of the lifting of the Kisan Andolan were implemented. She said it was surprising that the chief minister had not approached the Prime Minister even now. She also demanded that the AAP government pass a bill in the forthcoming assembly session on March 1 to purchase all 23 crops on MSP as promised repeatedly by Mr Bhagwant Mann.
Mrs Badal also urged the union government to implement the promises made to the Samyukt Kisan Morcha more than two years back by making MSP a legal right of farmers. She also urged the centre to conduct meaningful talks with the farmer unions and resolve all their grievances.
The Bathinda MP assured the grieving family and villagers that the SAD was with them in this time of crisis and would do everything to ensure justice was done to Shubhkaran. EOM
