Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid homage to Raja Ram Mohan Roy on his death anniversary. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan garlanded his portrait in the auditorium at his residence.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan has tweeted that “Women should get equal rights as men, because woman is the mother of man. We should respect women in any situation. Profound respect to Raja Ram Mohan Roy, the social reformer, the pioneer of Indian renaissance, who enlightened the country with the power of his thoughts.”

Shri Raja Ram Mohan Roy is called the forerunner of Indian renaissance and the father of modern India. He has a special place in the field of Indian social and religious reawakening. He was the founder of the Brahmo Samaj, the originator of the Indian linguistic press, the leader of the mass awakening and social reform movement and the father of the Renaissance era in Bengal. He gave impetus to Indian freedom struggle and journalism with the skillful combination of both the fields. While his movements gave luster to journalism, his journalism did the work of showing the right direction to the movements. Hundreds of examples of Raja Ram Mohan Roy’s vision and ideology are recorded in history. He was opposed to conservatism and evil practices.
