Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan planted a mango sapling at his residence. Shri KP Yadav, Member of Parliament from Guna, was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan is planting saplings every day as per his resolve.

Mango is called the king of fruits because of its taste, aroma and appearance. There are more than a thousand varieties of mango, out of which only 40-50 varieties have been found suitable from the commercial point of view. Mango is an easily available fruit of India that can be easily planted in almost every state. Dussehri, Lagda, Chausa, Fajri, Alphonjo, Totapri, Bombay Green etc. are the major varieties of mango. Nur Jahan, produced in Kattiwada of Alirajpur district in Madhya Pradesh, Sundarja of Rewa have their unique identity. Amrapali, Mallika, Gajariya, Dahiyad etc. are some of the local varieties in the state.

The bark of the mango tree is full of special medicines. On auspicious occasions, mango leaves are decorated at the doors of the houses.
