CM Shri Chouhan will distribute relief funds to flood victims

Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan will interact with the flood affected people of Sheopur and Shivpuri districts on Thursday, August 19. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will also seek information about the relief provided by the local administration so far for the damage caused to the flood affected. He will also distribute relief funds to the flood affected people on this occasion.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan had taken urgent steps with utmost sensitivity for the rescue and relief of the people in the flood affected districts of the state. Concerned departments were activated. In the last two weeks, the focus has been on normalizing life in the affected districts. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan will take stock of the damage caused to the infrastructure in Sheopur, which was worst affected. The Chief Minister will also seek information about the damage caused to private houses and government buildings and will meet farmers’ representatives to discuss about the damage to their crops.
It may be noted that the floods in Sheopur in the first week of this month, have resulted in much loss of public property. Government efforts have helped in preventing loss of life. The people stranded in floods were safely evacuated by the disaster teams and the army to the higher places. Prompt rescue operation helped save many lives. Efforts were made at the administrative level and through social organizations to help the flood affected people.
A task force consisting of 12 ministers constituted after the flood situation on the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Chouhan, reviewed the relief and rescue operations on a daily basis. Ministers kept taking stock of the works by camping in the districts. Sanitation workers teams along with JCB machines and other equipments from Indore and Gwalior Municipal Corporation reached Sheopur immediately after the floods. In urban areas, priority was given to clearing the debris from the roads and routes as well as making other routes commutable. Disrupted power lines were restored.
