Compensation will be paid by March 15, 2022: Dushyant Chautala

Chandigarh, March 3 – Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala has informed that if crops are not sown due to waterlogging in agricultural land, then compensation will be given for it.  He added that directions have been given to initiate the payment of compensation for the loss of the last Kharif-2022 by March 15, 2022.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Revenue and Disaster Management Department, said this in the response to a question asked by an MLA during the budget session of the Vidhan Sabha today.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala further informed that due to heavy rains, water logging and insect attacks, there was damage to the crops of cotton, moong, paddy, bajra and sugarcane of Kharif 2021 for which special girdawari was done by the Haryana Government.

According to the report given by the Deputy Commissioners of 12 districts including Karnal, Palwal, Nuh, Gurugram, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Charkhi Dadri, Bhiwani, Rohtak, Sonipat, Jhajjar, 9,14,139 farmers were found affected for which a compensation amount of Rs. 561,11,57,044/- has been been released, payment to 24,320 farmers already initiated through direct benefit transfer.

The Deputy Chief Minister, in response to another question about the villages falling under the Meham Assembly constituency, said that Meham, Bhanii-Surjan, Seman, Bedwa, Sisar Khas, Bhaini Chanderpal, Farmana Badshahpur, Mokhra Khedi Roj, Gugaheri, Bainsi, Kharak Jatan. In total 16 villages including Behlba, Kherainti, Nindana, Bahu Akbarpur, Samar Gopalpur, reports have been sent by the Deputy Commissioner about the damage to crops of 14,180 farmers.  He said that clear directions have been given by the State Government to ensure transparency in girdawari for damages caused by heavy rains, water logging and insect attacks.
