Cooperative societies will be computerized in Fazilka District -

— Deputy Commissioner holds Meeting to strengthen cooperative societies

Fazilka, 28 November:
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal held a meeting with the officials to further strengthen the cooperative societies working under the cooperative department and make them commercially viable while serving the public.

The Deputy Commissioner said that 123 cooperative societies are functioning in the district and all will be computerized in a phased manner. In its first phase, 23 societies will be computerized. She instructed the department to send the details of the farmer credit card as per the government’s demand. She said that the possibilities of building warehouses should be explored in the cooperative societies for which help can also be received from the government under the Agricultural Infrastructure Development Fund.

She further said that the services of Common Service Center are also to be started in the societies of the district. In the first phase, these services are being started in 25 societies, but the Deputy Commissioner instructed to complete this process soon in other societies also.

She said that there are 4 farmer producer groups (FPO) in the district, these should be made more functional and appropriate planning should be done to help the farmers in marketing of their crops. Apart from this, Jan Aushdhi Kendra and petrol pumps will also be opened in Cooperative societies.

DR Cooperative Sonu Mr. Sonu Mahajan, MD Cooperative Bank Mr. Harwinder Singh Dhillon, DDM NABARD Ashwani Kumar, Chief Agriculture Officer Gurmeet Singh Cheema, Fisheries Officer Kokam Kaur, Dr. Paramjit Singh from Verka were also present in the meeting.
