Court has remanded all three accused for taking bribe in dental surgeon recruitment case to judicial custody

Further investigation in the case is underway to collect remaining evidence and file charge sheet against the culprits

Chandigarh, November 25- On receipt of a complaint regarding manipulation of marks of candidates in the written examination for recruitment of Dental Surgeons, conducted by the Haryana Public Service Commission on September 26, 2021, the Haryana State Vigilance Bureau registered a case on November 17, 2021 and conducted a raid in which one Naveen Kumar resident of district Bhiwani was caught red-handed from a public parking in Sector-5, Panchkula, while accepting cash amounting to Rs 20 Lakhs.

While giving information in this regard an official spokesperson said that based on Naveen Kumar’s confession and other evidence obtained during investigation, the SVB officials further arrested Ashwani Sharma resident of district Jhajjar and seized cash amounting to Rs. 1,07,97,000 during the search of his house in his village in Distt-Jhajjar.

The spokesperson said that on being questioned, accused Ashwani Sharma confessed that the money recovered from his house was to be paid to Anil Nagar, HCS, posted as Deputy Secretary in the Haryana Public Service Commission. In order to verify  this fact, he was made to contact Anil Nagar, HCS while in custody and was asked by Nagar to hand over the money to him in his office, where upon the investigating team arrested Anil Nagar, HCS while accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 1,07,97,000 from Ashwani Sharma. This amount had originally been recovered from the house of accused Ashwani Sharma in village Jamalpur, distt Jhajjar. Therefore, doubts being raised by certain sections regarding recovery in the case have no basis. The investigation is proceeding in a fair and impartial manner strictly as per law with a view to successfully prosecute the offenders, he added.

He further informed that following the arrest of the accused persons, they were produced in the Court and taken on police remand.  On the disclosure of Anil Nagar, HCS, search was conducted at the residence of one of his associates, Satish Garg and cash amounting to Rs 66 lakh was recovered. An amount of Rs 1.44 crore was recovered the next day at his instance. Satish had kept the bribe money on Nagar’s behalf. Further, during the search of the house of Nagar, Rs 12 Lakh cash, a registered land deed amounting to Rs 50 Lakh, laptop and digital media were also seized.

He informed that accused Naveen remained in police custody for 5 days and accused Ashwani and Anil Nagar spent 4 days each in police custody. The Court has since remanded all three to judicial custody. Further investigation in the case is underway to collect remaining evidence and file charge sheet against the culprits. The Government ensures that no stone will be left unturned to bring all culprits to book.
