Hoshiarpur, May 10-Launching the inoculation drive for the construction workers of 18-44 years age group, Industry and Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora on Monday said that every worker & labourer living in Punjab would be vaccinated.

The Minister said that Punjab Government had already placed an order of 30 lakh doses and vaccine would be given to all beneficiaries in phased manner as it receive the vaccine.

Thanking Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Sing for starting immunization drive in 18-44 age bracket for the construction workers, the Minister said that it is a commendable step of government to keep these workers and labourers in priority sector. He said that these workers are backbone of development in each sector.

Appealing the people to not be complacent in any way about guidelines of Punjab Government and health department, the Industry Minister said that we must keep motivate each other for masking, maintaining physical distancing. He said that the teams of civil and police administration are working day and night to ensure safety of the people from pandemic and public must support them in this battle.

The Minister said there is no dearth of oxygen, remdesivir and other vital drugs. He also mentioned that hoarding of these medicines and oxygen would not be tolerated at any cost besides strict action against those  indulged in the profiteering or black-marketing would be initiated.

Today as many as 238 construction workers received the first dose of the vaccine on first day at four different locations. In Hoshiarpur, a total of 306057 doses have been administered to the eligible beneficiaries including 9027 and  4662 health workers got first and second dose respectively. Similarly, first and second dose had been given to 31758 and 7795 frontline workers respectively along with 143095 beneficiaries in 45-59 age group were received first dose and 19846 got second dose.

Further, 72443 beneficiaries above 60 were given first and 17431 got second dose of the vaccine.
