Covid situation improving, active cases consistently going down: DC B’pora
Says CAB critical to prevent spike in infections; appeals people to get vaccinated
BANDIPORA, JULY 23 2021 The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad today said that the Covid-19 situation is improving gradually with a steep decrease in positive cases and improvement in recovery rate owing to extensive testing in containment zones and vaccination drive launched at a large scale in the district.
While briefing media about the covid scenario in the district, Dr Owais said that the number of active positive cases has decreased further to 66 with only four patients in hospital observation while 62 patients are being monitored at home. He said the recovery rate in the district has gone above 98 percent with 9289 recoveries so far and 100 deaths.
Dr Owais said the downfall of the cases is due to strict containment measures including extensive sampling and subsequent vaccination drive at a large scale . He said 100 percent vaccination of the 45 plus age group has been completed while currently the focus is on the vaccination of 18-45 age group and more than 30 thousand doses have been administered so far in this age group. He appealed to the youngsters to come forward and get vaccinated at designated locations as early as possible.
He said there are 23 containment zones in the area including the one containment area added very recently. He said the positive cases were quickly isolated and mass testing was conducted to avoid spread of the virus and fortunately the situation was brought under control.
Dr Owais appreciated the people for following covid SOPs during Eid and urged them to continue to follow the guidelines as the pandemic is not over yet.
He appealed to the eligible people to get vaccinated forthwith so that more vaccinations in a shorter span of time are done which will translate into significant Herd Immunity sooner.
Hailing efforts of line departments and all stakeholders for bringing the situation under control, the DC impressed upon them to remain focussed and committed so as to consolidate the results.
The DC said that the Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and SOPs are vital to prevent any spike in infections and cautioned against any complacency on part of the stakeholders so that the virus is kept at bay and its spread is curtailed further. He appealed to the people not to lower guard and asked them to follow guidelines so that administration is not forced to take action against violators. He said the general public can report the violation of SOPs to the control rooms so that action can be taken against violators.
