International Youth Day celebrated with Cycle Rally
DLSA dedicated the rally to Youth Legal Rights

District Legal Services Authority, Rupnagar celebrated International Youth Day today on 12 August 2021 at 06:00 AM in the guidance of its Chairperson Ms. Harpreet Kaur Jeewan, Ld. District & Sessions Judge, Rupnagar, by organizing a 5.5 km cycle rally in Ropar City. The Idea behind the event was to spread legal awareness about NALSA scheme for Children 2015, to encourage sports activities and educate youth against drug menace. The Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre of District Courts was the starting and finishing point of the Cycle Rally. About 100 cyclists including Judicial Officers, Children, Students from various schools and youth of the city associated with District Cycling Association, Rupnagar joined the event.The Youth Day celebration began with address of Mr. Manav, CJM-cum- Secretary, DLSA, who told regarding the activities of DLSA in providing Free Legal Services like Legal Advice, Legal Counseling, Free Advocate and court fee to the marginalized sections of society including women, children, under trials, dalits and economically poor. He educated the children participating in the event regarding their legal rights and encouraged them to concentrate on their studies, sports and social activities and to say no to drugs. The rally started with all the cyclists bearing placards containing messages regarding Children Rights, Free Legal Aid and against drug abuse to educated passerby. Sh. B.S. Ramana, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Ms. Dazy Bangarh, Additional Civil Judge Senior Division Mr. Inderpal Satyal, President Cycling Association, Mr Gurpreet Singh Hira, Vice President of Association, Adv. Ashwani Sharma and others lead the rally. The entire rally was escorted on a pre-appointed route by Traffice Police, Rupnagar. The refreshments were provided to the participants in co-ordination with NGO, ACCP COPS, Rupnagar which work for corruption & crime free community oriented society. The event concluded with a group Bhangra performance by the participating children and vote of thanks by Secretary, DLSA.
