Chandigarh, October 22– Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) caught 4558 cases of power theft during last month and imposed a fine of Rs. 16.41 crore. FIR has been registered against the guilty consumers for not paying the fine on time.
Giving information in this regard Managing Director DHBVN, Sh. PC Meena said that in the intensive campaign being run against the power thieves, special attention is paid to such premises whose connections are disconnected as there is a possibility of them being involved in theft of power. Overloading and tripping occurs due to unauthorized use of electricity by them.

He has appealed to electricity consumers to cooperate in preventing power theft and if anyone around you steals electricity, then inform at corporation’s toll free number 1800-180-1011 and landline number 01662-221527. The identity of the person reporting the power theft will be kept confidential.
