DC B’la takes stock of Muharram arrangements
Urges devotees to adopt CAB in letter and spirit
BARAMULLA, JULY 23 2021 In connection with the upcoming Muharram ul Haraam, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Bhupinder Kumar today chaired a meeting at dak bungalow here to review the arrangements put in place for its smooth celebration.
On the occasion, a comprehensive discussion on the subject was held wherein it was given that special arrangements shall be made in view of the present circumstances emerged due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, President Hussani Relief Committee (HRC) Baramulla, Mohammad Ishaq Wani highlighted various issues and grievances that needs to be resolved for the smooth celebration of Muharram. He demanded uninterrupted drinking water and power supply, adequate ration, fire wood especially during the auspicious days.
Similarly, several other representatives belonging to different areas, also apprised the chair of different issues and grievances pertaining to drinking water, power, ration, installation of lights at some vital locations.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed upon the concerned officers to make adequate arrangements with regard to uninterrupted power and water supply more especially in Shia dominated areas. He also directed to work in coordination and make a viable mechanism so that the devotees may not face any inconvenience.
Kumar also directed the Municipal authorities to ensure sanitation of all the vital locations viz Imam Baras, shrines and masjids. He also directed the health authorities to make adequate arrangements and organize special camps for distributing face masks, sanitizers and immunity boosting medicines.
The DC appealed to follow all the related SOPs and guidelines in letter and spirit so that the risk of COVID-19 infection is mitigated.
Among others, the meeting was attended by SSP Baramulla, ADCs of Baramulla and Sopore, SDMs, district and sectoral officers, heads of various line departments, representatives of various Shia associations besides other functionaries.
