DC Calls for early completion of pre-tendering formalities of STPs

Construction of Naya Gaon STP Underway District to have set up 10 New STPs of about 80 MLD SAS Nagar, February 05, 2025: To ensure the proper disposal of liquid waste in the district, a capacity of 80 MLD is being augmented by setting up 10 more STPs in SAS Nagar. Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain said that earlier the district had a capacity of 101 Million Litres per day in the district to treat the sewage water. To plug the gap of additional need of 46.10 MLD, about 10 more STPs are being commissioned having capacity of about 80 Million Litres Per day of treating sewage water. The upcoming STPs have been proposed at Lalru, Derabassi, Zirakpur, Sector 83, Kharar and Naya Gaon. Out of these the constitution of Naya Gaon STP is underway, said Deputy Commissioner. She said that the work was started last year and it is expected to be completed by February 2026. The successful bid for the Naya Gaon was recorded at 35.52 Crore. The scope of work includes 4600 meters of laying of sewer lines while a Sewage Treatment Plant of 18.50 MLD capacity. So far, 1200 meters of sewer lines have been laid while 12 percent of progress of STP has been recorded. Similarly, the works of 15 MLD and 10 MLD of Kharar have also been allotted and the construction will soon be started. Deputy Commissioner said that the concerned agencies who have to execute the work, have been asked to complete the pre-tendering formalities as early as possible to get all the projects on work trajectory. ADC (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal added that as per the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, the rest of the installation work is assessed at various stages and the tenders would be floated soon.
