SAS Nagar, December 18:
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain directed the SDMs to explore the possibilities of setting up of polling stations in High Rise Buildings to increase the voters’ turn up ratio as well facilitation to exercise their vote in the proximity of their residential accommodation.
Taking stock of progress of special summary revision-2024, she ordered the SDMs to dispose of the claims and objections by December 26, 2023 to ensure publication of final electoral role on January 5, 2024.
Stressing upon the need of taking appropriate measure of the deletion of shifted and dead voters, she asked them to verify the whereabouts carefully from Booth Level Officers and Supervisors.
The Deputy Commissioner said that during the Special Summary Revision-2024 started from October 27 to Decemeber 9, 2023, a total of 13886 forms received. Out of which, 8167 are new voter’s forms while 1451 are deletion requests besides 4267 for corrections.
Similarly, during house to house verification of the district has been done. During the H2H verification a total of 29379 shifted/expired/blurred image/repeated EPICs have been identified out of which merely 12 percent is pending for giving final touch.
She asked the SDMs to plan college/university level camps for catching young voters. She also directed them to coordinate with RWAs to register those voters who have not been enrolled yet.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the SDMs to chalk out voter awareness activities under SVEEP and submit the plans with budget demands to the District Election Office to start SVEEP activities from Jaunaury onwards.
