DC Directs the officials for the protection of areas fall under Punjab Land Preservation Act in SAS Nagar District

No Commercial Activities to be allowed in De-listed Area

Takes a meeting to review the implementation of the prohibition on ground

In a bid to maintain the prohibitions under the Punjab Land Preservation Act strictly, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain directed the officials to ensure proper action as per law in case any violation came to the fore.

Taking a review meeting with the local bodies officers, Town Planning Officials, Civil, Revenue and Forest Departments, she said that as per section 4, the area falling under PLPA should be kept protected as per the forest department’s mandate.

She made it clear that the de-listed area should not impact the area under the PLPA, so it will be the joint responsibility of all the departments particularly Local Bodies and Twon Planning to deal with the requisite permissions carefully. She said that it would also be ensured that the delisted areas should not carry any commercial activity.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the hot spot areas identified by the Forest Department in the Majri and Naya Gaon should be taken care of well and no violation would be allowed. In case of any violation, the concerned authority, may it be a local body or town planning, prompt action would be taken as per law.

Emphasising the coordinated efforts of all the departments, she said that regular monitoring should be maintained and it would be ensured that any activity in the delisted areas should not negatively impact the PLPA regulations.

She said that in the wake of growing urbanization, it is the responsibility of Local Bodies and Town planning to protect the PLPA area from construction activities. She asked the committee formed for Mirzapur comprising Naib Tehsildar Majri, Range Officer Forest and the SHO concerned to inspect the violation, if any and initiate the legal proceedings against the violators besides stopping the construction activities immediately.

The meeting was attended by the Divisional Forest Officer Kanwardeep Singh, ADC (G) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Kharar Gurmander Singh, District Revenue Officer Amandeep Chawla, Raghbir Singh Naib Tehsildar Majri, BDPO Majri Gurminder Singh and EO Naya Gaon Ravi Jindal.
