 Instructs to ensure tapped water connection for every new household in rural area

With the vision to cover every rural household under tapped water connection scheme, the Deputy Commissioner Ms. Isha Kalia on Tuesday emphasised on technological interventions and innovations such as Solar Energy based water supply systems for forthcoming Surface water project.

Presiding over a meeting of District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM) at District Administrative Complex, Ms. Kalia said that habitation of minimum 20 households or 100 people should be covered under the tapped water scheme. She also stressed on Water Quality Infrastructure and regular water quality monitoring through Field Testing Kits (FTKs) and Laboratories as per monitoring protocol. She said that regular monitoring through Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) should be ensured. She added that every new rural household should have tapped water connection and it should deliver adequate quantity of water i.e. 70 Lpcd. The quality of water should be potable i.e. as per BIS: 10500 standards.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed that water connection to every new household should be ensured for maintaining the status of Functional House Tap Connections (FHTC) of district SAS Nagar. She also directed DWSS Executive Engineer, Division No. 3, SAS Nagar to monitor accordingly and take necessary action as and when required. DDPO SAS Nagar have been directed that the 15th FC funds lying unspent at village level shall be utilized at the earliest and as per guidelines issued.
Ms. Kalia also instructed to ensure implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission to ensure proper sanitation and drainage systems in rural areas.
