KARGIL, MAY 08, 2021: In order to discuss various measures required to be taken to deal with the drought like situation in various villages of the district as a result of scanty snowfall during the winter season, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve convened a meeting of the concerned officers at DC Office Kargil here today.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil Tsering Motup, Superintending Engineer PWD Kargil Er Ved Prakash, Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Kargil Abdul Hadi, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Ghulam Mohammad, Executive Engineer Mechanical Division Er Om Prakash, Chief Agriculture Officer Kacho Muhammad Khan, Chief Horticulture Officer Ali Raza besides other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner inquired from the concerned officers about the status of necessary arrangements to deal with possible drought like situation in various villages of the district due to fewer snowfall and rainfall this season.
The Deputy Commissioner was informed that the Irrigation and Flood Control Department is procuring 50 numbers of pumps to ensure lift irrigation in case of drought in higher areas with water shortage in the district.
Other concerned officers also informed the Deputy Commissioner about measures being taken by their respective departments to deal with the drought like situation in various villages.
DC Santosh Sukhadeve instructed the concerned officers to identify the drought prone areas where instant pumps for lift irrigation can be installed. He also stressed officers to take all possible measures so that people do not face any inconvenience owing to the shortage of water.
