Continuing his efforts to galvanize local industries to provide maximum employment to unemployed youths, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday visited leading sports goods manufacturing industry FC Sondhi & Co Pvt Ltd. situated at Suranussi and took its feedback on their manpower requirements.

The deputy commissioner was welcomed by the Managing Director Rajeev Anurag Sondhi and Senior General Manager Suresh D. Rishi, followed by the detailed deliberations to further making Ghar Ghar Rozgar Program a massive success in the district.
Terming the employment program of Punjab government as a path-breaking initiative,the DC solicited active participation of the industry to benefit the unemployed youth by opening new vistas of employment for them. He also sought their suggestions and feedback to provide them skilled and educated manpower as per their desires.
Meanwhile, the DC also took round of the manufacturing unit where owners apprised him about the several production phases. The MD also provided an insight into the manufacturing of cricket goods which the FC Sondhi is widely known for besides other production operations. The DC showed great interest in manufacturing processes especially in English Willow bat manufacturing.
During an interaction with the MD, Thori asked him to provide the data regarding the kind of skilled workers they required so that administration can work accordingly. He mentioned that the collective efforts of the administration and industrialists can eliminate unemployment from the state by generating maximum job opportunities for unemployed youth.
He also mentioned that the administration has already shaped its skill training program as per the needs of local industry; hence, feedback from respective industries holds significance in terms of ensuring availability of quality workforce to business establishments.
The DC hailed the efforts of industrialists in making the district a manufacturing hub in the country in production of various items which Jalandhar is known for including sports goods, leather goods, hand tools, pipe fitting and many more.
Revealing the journey of FC Sondhi & Co., Rajeev Anurag Sondhi said that the company was established by its founder F.C. Sondhi in 1961 and since then the company is a leading manufacturer and exporter of all types of cricket equipment like Cricket Bats, Legguards, Batting Gloves, Cricket Balls, Arm Guards, Sports Accessories etc. He further added that the unit is set up across 12 acres of land and is also called as Garden Factory because of its lush green gardens.
The MD said that the company has been focussing on quality products which is also its motto. He also said that the company has the most mechanized English Willow Cricket Bat manufacturing facility in Asia, which ensures that accuracy, precision, cost and quality, are always under strict control. He also apprised the DC about the steps taken by the company to train and employ the unemployed youths in its units.
