Takes stock of COVID mitigation efforts
RAJOURI, MAY 31, 2021: District Development Council Chairman Rajouri, Adv. Naseem Liaqat today conducted an extensive tour of the Kalakote subdivision and took stock of COVID mitigation efforts at New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) Saranu, PHC Sialsui, Health and wellness centre Bhatera, PHC Panjah, CHC Kalakote, PHC Roughly and CHC Taryath.
Among the others, BDC Chairperson Moughla, Surekha Kotwal; ADC Kalakote, Krishan Lal,  Tehsildar Taryath, BDO Kalakote, SHO Kalakote, SHO Dharamshal.
 Prominent citizens including Bhushan Uppal, Ashok Kumar, Yushu Wardhan Singh, Irfan Chouhan and others accompanied the Chairman.
At NTPHC Saranu, the Chairman was informed that as many as 2840 persons (95%) in the 45+ age group have been vaccinated in the area. At PHC Sialsui, it was apprised that there is a shortage of Doctors and paramedical and construction work on the building be started at an earliest to which ADC Kalakote apprised the chairman that DPR stands submitted.
Further, officials at the PHC informed the chairman that the vaccine for the 45 above age group was not available. The Chairman passed on the spot instructions to ADC Kalakote to take up the matter with the district administration and provide the vaccine at an earliest.
It was further informed that the solar power bank is lying defunct and needs minor repairs but the executing agency hasn’t repaired the same. The Chairman DDC assured to  take up the matter with the concerned authorities for the early resolution of the issue.
At Community Health Centre, Kalakote, the Chairman was apprised that the centre caters to over 146800 souls spread over 89 villages and 34 feeding sub-centres fall under the CHC. The Chairman visited the NHM BPMU section, establishment section, dental OPD, and dedicated covid care centre and other sections of the CHC.
At PHC Roughly, it was submitted that a post of Dr is lying vacant and paramedical staff deputed at the centres have been attached to Rajouri due to which the general public is suffering. Further residents demanded that a dedicated special feeder be provided for the PHC from the nearby substation and a 25KVA  transformer be sanctioned and the main building of the PHC be renovated.
Similarly, at CHC Taryath, the Chairman was apprised that there is an acute shortage of staff and demanded that all the substantially sanctioned posts be filled.
The DDC Chairman took a detailed review of the infrastructure available in the healthcare facilities for dealing with Coronavirus patients.
The Chairman asked the concerned authorities to ensure proper care of COVID-19 positive patients for their early recovery and stressed upon the health department to evolve an effective strategy for early detection of COVID cases to control the spread of this dreaded virus.
The Chairman also asked the concerned to ensure strict adherence to all preventive protocols and SOPs regarding the virus while performing their duties to ensure there as well as safety of others. He directed the health officials for making the dedicated covid care centre in CHC Kalakote functional.
