ADC (D) flags off publicity van

To weed out the stubble burning menace from roots, the District Administration has conceptualized an exclusive idea to depute Village Nodal Officers in every village and Cluster Officers to ground level monitoring.
Divulging the details about this, the Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan apprised that more than 400 nodal officers have been deputed in villages for strict enforcement and monitoring at the village, cluster, tehsil, and district levels to keep air pollution under check for containing the spread of respiratory diseases in view of COVID pandemic in the district. A mobile app, for both android and iOS platforms, has been developed from Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC) by the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), which was operational to provide role-based login (village, cluster, sub-division and district levels) to various officials for end-to-end reporting and action taken for each fire incident this season.
‘’171 Advanced machinery under ‘promotion of agricultural mechanization for in-situ and 4 for ex-situ management of crop residue has been sanctioned for the district, which will be made available for 17 Farmers Groups (each group comprising minimum 8 members) and 158 individuals. It was also informed that these machines for individuals were being available with up to 50 percent subsidy, while the CHCs, PACS, village panchayats, and FPOs can avail them at up to 80 percent subsidy’’, he added.
He further informed that super seeder, happy seeder, super sms, hydraulic reversible MB plough machines with high priority machinery and straw chopper, shredder, mulcher, zero till seed-cum-fertiliser drill, crop reaper with low priority in-situ machines and baler and rake in ex-situ machines have been made available for the ease of the farmers to shun the practices of stubble burning.
Meanwhile a publicity van was flagged off by Additional Deputy Commissioner (D) Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal from District Administrative Complex to create awareness among farmers for the cause. He informed that this is the coordinated effort of Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and Agriculture Department to sensitize farmers of every village about the ill effects of the stubble burning. He added that initially the van will cover those villages, where the harvesting is started in advance.
On this occasion Chief Agriculture Officer Rajesh Kumar Raheja, Environment Engineer Lavneet Dubey, Assistant Environment Engineer Rantej Sharma and Agriculture Development Officer Gurdial Kumar were present.
