Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma today inaugurated the start of booster dose of Covid vaccination at Dumra Auditorium in Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, here. He was also accompanied by ADC Dr Nayan Jassal, Civil Surgeon Dr SP Singh, DMCH Managing Committee secretary Prem Gupta, Dr Rajesh Mahajan, Dr Bishav Mohan, besides several others.

While speaking to media persons on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that all healthcare and frontline workers and those above 60 years already having other ailments are eligible for a booster shot, if they have completed 9 months from the date of administering the second dose.
He also urged all government staff, that has been deputed for election duty to get themselves vaccinated at the earliest.
Later, the DC also inaugurated a special Covid OPD in the DMCH premises.
The DC further said that a special vaccination camp for all election staff including teachers, government staff, bank employees, insurance sector etc who have been deputed for election duty, is being organised in the auditorium of Government College for Girls Ludhiana from 10 am to 2 pm tomorrow (January 11, 2022). He said that both Covishield and Covaxin would be available at this camp.
ADC Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer Vaccination Dr Nayan Jassal informed that the employees would need to carry their ID card for identification at the entry gate as there would be no entry without proof of department. She also clarified that no vaccination would be done for family members etc of employees.
She said that all head of departments have already been issued formal letters in this regard and if any official becomes Covid positive during election duty, then it would be the sole responsibility of the HoD and the concerned official.
