Directs field functionaries to work for making farming progressive sector

Director Agriculture Jammu, K K Sharma conducted an extensive tour of District Doda. He conducted field inspections and interactive sessions with the field functionaries as well as farmers of the district.
During the visit, he took a detailed review of different activities being done for the welfare of the farming community of the District. He emphasized on adopting a missionary approach while serving the farmers. “As the Department is a welfare department and the welfare of farmers should always remain the utmost priority,” he advised the department functionaries.
He further advised for the formation of women Self help groups and Community Interest Groups (CIG) involving a large number of women farmers as that can revolutionize the farming sector in a big way.
He also directed for popularization of beekeeping and other subsidiary activities which help in increasing the income of farmers. He also appreciated the efforts of field staff and advised them to work with more vigour and zeal.
A field visit was also arranged to vegetable growing areas of Assar and Jathi, during which a short interaction was also organized with the farmers.
Joint Director Agriculture, Extension, Shahid Iqbal was also present on the occasion. He also interacted with the field staff present on the occasion. Mukesh Khajuria CAO Doda also spoke on the occasion and gave an overview of different activities being done in the district.
Among others ASCO Doda Alyas Akhtar; DAO Dr Rakesh Khajuria; Soil Survey officer, Haroon Hussain; Assistant Soil Chemist Zareena Akhtar; Apiculture Development officer Rajeshwar Singh; District SMS Ajay Sharma; ADO Kartar Singh and Sub Divisional Agriculture officers were present on the occasion.
