Discoms to install 10 lakh smart meters in Haryana

Haryana State has successfully stepped into the world of smart meters. Discoms have entered into MoU with EESL on July 11, 2018 for installation of 10 lakh smart meters in Haryana in selective towns i.e. Karnal, Gurugram, Panchkula, Panipat & Faridabad.

Sharing more details in this regard an official spokesperson said that to facilitate the consumers with near real time updates, the smart meter consumers are provided with mobile app facility namely “UHBVN SMART METER” or “DHBVN SMART METER” so that they can check their consumption on daily basis. The smart meter consumers can directly place their complaint to Call Centre via Mobile App facility and also apply for new connection in addition to other features.

Now, Haryana has taken one step ahead to be a part of the leading states in the country in terms of optimizing technology for citizen services. UHBVN has rolled out option for opting prepaid billing on November 26, 2020 for existing smart meter consumers of DS/NDS/LT category having load upto 20 kw. Consumers can avail couple of benefits in case they opt for this scheme. Consumers will get additional 5% rebate on the SoP of the current electricity bill of the month. Also, the applicable Advance Consumption Deposit (ACD) will be waived off for the consumers who have opted for pre-paid billing. Consumers can recharge their balance using Advance payment facility on DISCOM online payment portal as well as in respective Sub Division cash counter. The prepaid facility will allow consumers to optimize their consumption and benefit them with savings in their electricity bills.

The existing smart meter consumers can submit the request for conversion of their post-paid billing on pre-paid mode in their respective sub-division offices or at 1912 / Discom Call Centre.Consumer will receive SMS notification of low balance on 30%, 20% & 10% of last recharge value and on Nil balance. In case, consumer fails to recharge, the disconnection will be initiated after 48 working hours of nil balance.
