Discussion on NEP by various Departments at Panjab University

The Faculty members of the Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh discussed the National Education Policy 2020 and further decided to make a framework for the syllabus of B.Sc. and M.Sc. in view of the upcoming NEP.

The Faculty members further decided to start work on  framing  Value Added Courses preferably in collaboration with other departments.  In addition, skill development courses and vocational courses which can be offered by the departments should be explored. The courses on the lines of Indian Knowledge System should also be explored.

Department of History, Panjab University today conducted a special event to deliberate upon implementation of National Education Policy. Prof. Latika Sharma from Dept. of Education, Panjab University, interacted with the Faculty of Department and shared the key highlights of the Policy. She spoke about the objectives and the tentative methodology for implementation of the Policy. In an interactive session, she also answered the queries and concerns of the faculty members.

Dr. Priyatosh Sharma, Chairperson, Department of History also shared his thoughts on the pertinent issue of Policy Implementation.

The Centre for Social Work also held a discussion with the students focussing on 5 E’s (Engage, Explore, Experience, Express & Excel) in context to the NEP. Gaurav Gaur, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work shared the various opportunities  available in the discipline of social work in context to National Education Policy. He said that students while doing field interactions, they can engage themselves in community level projects which help them in exploring and getting experience.

School of Communication Studies, Panjab University along with office of Director, Public Relations interviewed various teachers at the Campus regarding the same and would be compiling a short video of the same.
