SAS Nagar, November 20, 2023:
Under the directions of Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the campaign ‘Aksham Se Saksham-Empowering the Youth’ was launched in District SAS Nagar by S. Harpal Singh, District and Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar which shall be carried out from 20.11.2023 to 29.11.2023.
Sh. Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, DLSA, SAS Nagar disclosed that total 100 students of 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th standard have been selected from 20 schools who would visit the DLSA office and Courts to know the practical working. They shall also be taken to police stations to know the procedure of lodging of complaints. Besides, visits to old age home and orphanages shall be arranged so that the students may be empathetic for the children living in shelter homes and old age persons who need love and care of their children but due to certain reasons, living away from them.
On completion of the campaign, a seminar shall be organized in which all the Principals of Government Schools, In-charges of Legal Literacy Clubs and students for selected for the campaign shall participate. The purpose of the campaign is to make the students aware of free legal services, victim compensation schemes, legal provisions as to rape, POCSO and NDPS Act so that they may be able to keep themselves away from the social evils and educate others regarding these provisions.
