— Tenders of Five Roundabouts Approved, Proposal for Six More under progress

District Road Safety Committee, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, today, discussed proposals for safer and smooth commutation on Mohali roads. ADC (G) Viraj Shyamkarn Tidke while chairing the meeting asked the police to take stern action against the violators.
Reviewing the black spots identified in the district on various roads, the ADC directed the NHAI, GMADA, Municipal Corporation Mohali and other stakeholder departments to rectify the pending 19 black spots without any further delay to ensure the safety of commuters. It was decided to propose Punjab State Road safety Council for considering installation of Integrated Safety and Traffic Management System (CCTV Cameras) by identifying one busiest road of the Mohali on trial basis.
Additional Deputy Commissioner while reviewing traffic challans of violators stressed upon increase in the checking so that no compromise could be made on this issue related to the safety of general public. He said over speeding, red light jump, use of mobile during driving, seat belt, helmet and drunken driving should be focused on more.
Ordering the District Child Protection Officer to ensure implementation of Safe School Vaahan, the ADC Viraj further said that school buses must be compliance as per the policy and no negligence would be tolerated at any cost.
He further added that after the approval of tenders of five roundabouts proposed in the city, proposal of six more also in progress. Apart from that, cycle track from IISER to Quark city also under consideration. Similarly, installation of five traffic lights in Kharar would be completed by next 15 days as per the commitment given by the NHAI.
He appealed to the people to help the road accident victims without any hesitation or fear and there name would be proposed to the state for being awarded as a good Samaritan. He assured that as per the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain, the district administration with the collaboration of GMADA and Municipal Corporation Mohali, is working relentlessly to ease out the traffic problems of the city.
