Div Com directs for close check on overcharging of essential medicines, High flow Masks, Pulse oximeters

‘Sufficient stock of covid related drugs including Remdesivir available’
JAMMU, MAY 17, 2021: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer today reviewed the stock and supply position of essential drugs, pulse oximeters, here at a meeting of Drug Controllers and Wholesale dealers of Pharmaceuticals.
The meeting was attended by UT Drugs Controller J&K, Lotika Khajuria; ADC Jammu, Deputy Director Health Services, Assistant Controllers Drugs, besides President, Secretary and other members of Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors Association and other concerned.
At the outset, the Div Com reviewed the stock position of covid related drugs, Bipap & High flow Masks, Sanitizers, covid related medical equipments (oximeters, oxygen concentrators etc). It was informed in the meeting that sufficient stock of essential drugs is available and supply is also being maintained.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure that there was no shortage of covid related drugs, masks, sanitizers, oximeters etc. He also passed directions for ensuring close check on overcharging for essential medicines, masks and oximeters.
The Drugs Controller informed that sufficient quantity of Covid related drugs are available. She informed that over 11,500 vials of Remdesivir are available in the Jammu division and they are also receiving regular weekly stocks.
It was also informed in the meeting that Pulse Oxymeters and Oxygen concentrators have been notified as Drugs under the provisions of Drug Control order DPCO, 2013 w.e.f April 1, 2020. It was further informed that the MRP of Pulse oximeters and oxygen concentrators shall be monitored under para 20 of DPCO, 2013. The government shall monitor the MRP of all the drugs, including non scheduled formulations and ensure that no manufacturer increases the MRP of a drug more than 10 percent of MRP during preceding twelve months.
The Drugs Controller has also issued a circular that any person found violating the provisions of Para 20 of DPCO shall invite action under Essential Commodities Act 1955.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the Drug Control Department to constantly review the compliance status of prices fixed by NPPA(National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority) and under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017.
