SAMBA, JUNE 04, 2021: The District Legal Services Authority, Samba, today organized an Awareness Programme for Welfare of Senior Citizens at Ahata-e-Waqar, Samba.
The programme was presided over by Sonia Gupta, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge). She elucidated various activities and programmes being conducted by DLSA Samba, under the aegis J&K State Legal Services Authority. She also apprised the participants about the changes being introduced for the proper functioning of the Ahata-e-Waqar. She stated that such an initiative, which was inaugurated in September 2020, pertinently reaffirms our faith that aging with wisdom and aging with dignity must be in harmony.
Arvind Sharma, CJM Samba (Chairman, TLSC, Samba) also interacted with the senior citizens. He apprised them that Ahata-e-waqar is a recreational centre for elderly people. He also interacted with the participants.
Slahuddin Ahmed, Sub Judge/Secretary, DLSA, Samba apprised the senior citizens about various government schemes for the benefit of senior and elderly citizens. The participants were also made aware of the COVID-19 safety and precautions. They were advised to get vaccinated and to follow the SOPs issued by the government from time to time. The use of face masks and sanitizers, and practice of social distancing was explained to them to avoid the spread of the COVID disease.
The programme was attended by Officers of District Social Welfare Office, Samba, Senior Citizens and Para Legal Volunteers.
