Dr B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences, Mohali conducted the White Coat ceremony for the 3rd MBBS Batch. The event was graced by Dr. Bhagwant Singh, President of IMA Punjab and Chairman of AIMS Mohali as the Chief Guest. Dr Avnish Kumar, Director Medical Education and Research was the Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries in attendance included Sh. Rahul Gupta, IAS, Additional Secretary, Dr Akashdeep, Joint Director, Dr Jasbir Singh, Deputy Director and Dr Gagneen kaur, Nodal Officer Medical Education and Research, Punjab along with Dr Bhavneet Bharti, Director Principal and Dr Navdeep Saini, Medical Superintendent, AIMS Mohali.
The students were formally inducted into the medical profession with the undertaking of the ‘Charaka Shapath’ and ‘Donning of White Coat’ by the faculty members of the institution. They were also enlightened with ‘Wisdom Quotes’ from various distinguished teachers and stalwarts of the medical profession.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Bhagwant Singh highlighted the need not only gain knowledge but also develop life skills that include compassion, dignity and respect for others. Dr. Avnish added that in addition to treating patients, doctors should also serve as “Healers” by acting with compassion, kindness, and humility. Dr. Bhavneet Bharti also congratulated the newly inducted students and gave an overview of the achievements of the college and the strides made, while emphasizing the importance of maintaining a good academic record while also keeping up with hobbies. The event concluded with a note of thanks.
