Safai Karamcharis will also be able to form their own cooperative societies
Chandigarh, May 20- Fulfilling the vision of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal to socially and economically strengthen every poor family, now representatives of Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce will also be invited to the Antyodaya Melas, which are being organised under Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, a scheme to increase the income of each family up to Rs 1.80 lakh per annum.
Besides this, on the occasion of Sant Kabir Jayanti on June 14, the Haryana chapter of Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce will also be launched.
This decision was taken during a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today with the office bearers of Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce.
In the meeting, Mission Director of Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Utthan Yojana, Sh. Mandeep Singh Brar apprised the Chief Minister that so far more than 500 melas have been organized at 156 places in two phases. Information about 49 schemes of 18 departments is being given to the beneficiaries, under which they can self-employ themselves by taking loans from banks. It was also informed that seven lakh such families have been identified whose annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh, out of which 2.5 lakh families have been called initially. So far, 16,000 beneficiaries have been taken on rolls in Antyodaya Melas, besides 350 persons have been selected in the private sector.
In the meeting, the Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Dr Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce regarding motivating youth from poor families, especially scheduled castes to become entrepreneurs. The State Government is already working to uplift the last person standing in the queue, while following the spirit of Antyodaya. Making efforts to ensure that the poor person self-employed by organizing Antyodaya Melas is also a part of the same chain, he added. Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran and HSIIDC have already announced 10 percent rebate in the cost of industrial plots to be allotted to persons belonging to Scheduled Castes to become entrepreneurs, on which work is in progress.
The Chief Minister called upon the Safai Karamcharis to form cooperative societies like building and construction workers. He advised them to take the contract of cleaning in urban local bodies through these committees. Thus, they will be contractors instead of cleaners. The Chief Minister said that gradually the work of cleaning in the cities should be done by machines instead of doing it manually. He urged the Safai Karamcharis to provide good education to their children and send them to government and other sectors.

Vineet Garg, Additional Principal Secretary Smt. Ashima Brar, Political Secretary to Chief Minister Sh Krishna Kumar Bedi, Dr. Ambedkar Chamber of Commerce, Director General Sardar Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal and other senior officers.
