Drugs and Food Control Organization organizes awareness camp at Kargil on drug abuse
Kargil, October 24, 2022:
Drugs and Food Control Organization UT Ladakh today organized an awareness program on the prevention of drug abuse among children and effective dispensing of medicines to the patients, general masses, and price of medicines related information with working pharmacists, and pharmaceutical distributors at Auditorium Hall Kargil.
In charge Drug Controller, UT, Ladakh Mohd Bashir highlighted the importance of awareness as an effective tool for preventing drug abuse and disseminating the information that medical treatment of drug abusers is possible.
He highlighted the major role of pharmacists, and health professionals in preventing the menace of drug abuse through their knowledge, counseling, data regarding the drugs mostly sold or dispensed, and user detail.
He appealed to the pharmacists as they are in direct contact with the patients and their relatives to guide and suggest they seek medical treatment and counseling.
Senior Pharmacist, Haji Ismail, Zaheer Hussain Babar also spoke on the occasion.
Project Manager, Nawang Tsetan, Field Investigator, Nazia Kousar, Chemist operators, pharmaceutical distributors beside others concerned were present on the occasion.
All the participants were urged to follow and spread the information shared with them and help in the prevention of drug addiction and illicit trafficking among children which has become a challenge by helping the administration and society to eradicate the menaces of drug addiction.
Participants were briefed about the ill effects of the drug menace and its effect on society. The speakers highlighted various drugs and their negative impact on society. They emphasized the various problems that drug addicts suffer throughout their life.
The program was held in continuation of the campaign with respect to the Centrally Sponsored Scheme “Consumer Awareness, Publicity, and Price Monitoring” on medicine and Medical Devices. All the related information regarding medicines, price-related issues, and other necessary points to be the lookout while purchasing and consuming medicines and a written advisory circulated among participants and prevention of drug abuse among children/adolescents and illicit trafficking.
