EC Chandan calls on Dy Director General Universal Service Obligation Fund
KARGIL, MARCH 19, 2021: Executive Councillor for Agriculture and Health Mohammad Ali Chandan called on the Deputy Director General (SP) Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, Deepak Chanduka in Delhi on Thursday.
EC Chandan discussed various issues related to providing of mobile connectivity in the left-out villages of different blocks of Kargil district in general and Shargole block in particular.
The EC submitted a detailed memorandum to the Deputy Director General (USOF) stating that the inhabitants and student community of these left-out villages are facing a lot of problems due to the non-availability of communication system and accordingly requested for sanction and immediate installation of mobile towers in the left-out areas, so that the inhabitants and student community of these villages may utilize the benefits of uninterrupted telecommunication facilities.
The Deputy Director General (USOF) assured the Executive Councillor that all necessary efforts will be made to cater to the telecommunication requirements of the left-out areas by deputing survey teams in the district in near future, adding that these teams would conduct detailed survey for installation of mobile towers enabling to provide mobile connectivity in the left-out areas of Kargil district on priority basis.
