Discuss measures for COVID-19 mitigation, augmentation of Agriculture Sector
KARGIL AUGUST 25, 2020: In order to discuss measures aimed at giving impetus to Agriculture Sector in the district, Executive Councilor for Agriculture and Health Muhammad Ali Chandan held a meeting with the Senior Scientists and Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil and Zanskar here today.
During the course of the meeting, the EC enquired from the scientists about the measures being taken up by both the KVKs towards farmers awareness and extension of technical knowledge and inputs for augmentation of agriculture sector in the district.
The Senior Scientists gave detailed presentation about the ongoing activities of the KVKs and suggested some major issues to be taken up in future for upliftment of the Agriculture sector for betterment of the farmers.
EC Chandan directed the scientists to organize awareness camps at village level to enlighten the general public about various Government schemes so that the farmers will be benefitted.
Responding to the request of the officers of the KVKs, the EC Agriculture expressed his consent to conduct a meeting with the officers of Agriculture and allied departments and scientists of both the KVKs in the 2 week of September 2020.
Later, EC Chandan also convened a meeting with the officers of Health Department Kargil including the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)Kargil , Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil , Nodal Officer Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kargil , In Charge Covid Care Centres and the Block Medical Officers of the district and enquired in detail about the present status COVID-19 mitigation measures besides the arrangements being put in place by the Health Department for observance of Muharram in the district.
The officers concerned informed the EC that hand sanitizers, masks and gloves are being provided to the mourners attending the mourning congregations at the Imambaras and other mourning places.
The EC was further informed that the services of medical teams are also being provided wherever required.
Meanwhile, the CMO Kargil and the BMOs apprised the EC Health about the latest position of COVID-19 preventive measures in their respective blocks.
The CMO Kargil informed that instructions have been passed to BMO Drass and Shakar Chiktan to start Rapid Test at the entry points at Meenamarg, Khangral and Sanjak.
The EC Health appreciated the dedicated services extended by each individual of Health Department Kargil in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and smooth conduct of the Muharram congregations as per SOPs issued by the District Administration. He urged them to continue the discharge of their services with missionary zeal and enthusiasm so as to contain the spread of the deadly virus in the district.
