Executive Councilor for Revenue and Forest, LAHDC, Kargil Mohsin Ali today convened a meeting with Divisional Forest Officer Kargil and the elected representatives to discuss the afforestation plan in affected areas due to the widening of NH 301 from Baroo Minjee to Padum Zanskar.

While briefing the participants, the Divisional Forest Officer Kargil said in order to protect the environment, Forest Department Kargil is going to submit an afforestation plan of 80000 to 120000 trees to NHIDCL in place of 40000 trees that came under the widening of NH 301.
He requested the Councilors to identify 50 kanals of community land in each constituency for plantation purposes.
After a thorough discussion, it was decided that every Councilor will submit the identified land to the Divisional Forest Officer within five days so that the Forest Department Kargil will submit the plan to the concerned immediately.
It was further decided that the Executive Councilor Forest and Revenue, LAHDC, Kargil may approach Principal Secretary Forest UT Ladakh and Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil to speed up the sanction/approval case of revised tree compensation and land/building compensation in favor of the affected families for which a resolution has also been passed by the Councilors on spot.
