EC Tashi calls holds meetings with Chief Engineer Project Vijayak, Commander 762 BRTF
KARGIL, MARCH 27, 2021: Executive Councilor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunchog Tashi held meetings with the Chief Engineer, Project VIJAYAK Kargil Brigadier Ashish Ghambir and Commander 762 BRTF, Colonel Kaushik Mitra regarding various measures to explore the expeditious construction of Nimmu-Padum-Darcha (NPD) Road.
The issue related to better performance and to expedite the execution of works on the NPD road for overall improvement in connectivity to Ladakh region came up for discussion and the meeting ended with a very positive note.
The Chief Engineer Project VIJAYAK Kargil assured EC Tashi that the first priority of Project VIJAYAK is to connect the NPD road from Chilling KM 47 to Neyrak KM 78 for which the preparation of DPR for vertical rock cutting of the left over 31 KM is in the final stages.
He further assured that proper snow clearance and improvement of Singhay La and Shingkun La stretch shall also be done at the earliest while 3 major bridges at Sumdo, Zangla and Raru shall also be completed during this working season, adding bailey bridges at required spots shall also be constructed this summer to make the road from Darcha to Padum motorable during summers.
The EC was further informed that priority shall be given to locally available labourers in 126 RCC Padum to work with BRO, while work has already resumed from Chilling side towards Neyrak where the Chief Engineer has himself visited the site.
