EC Tashi reviews functioning of GDC Zanskar
KARGIL, MARCH 26, 2021: Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Er Phunsog Tashi held a meeting with the Principal Government Model Degree College Zanskar Nassir Hussain Shabani to review the general functioning of the college at Council Secretariat here today.
EC Tashi took stock of the staff position, status of students’ enrolment, infrastructure development and other related issues of GDC Zanskar.
The EC conveyed his appreciation to the Principal GDC Zanskar for his continuous and untiring efforts to shape and functionalize the whole system of the newly established college with utmost dedication.
Principal GDC Zanskar Nasir Shabani informed the EC that there is adequate teaching and non-teaching staff available in the college besides the roll of students is also increasing after introduction of Science stream.
The Principal further informed the EC that the college has also got various infrastructure facilities that include the academic block, administrative block, canteen block, a well-equipped laboratory, and a college bus.
As regards to other available infrastructure, the Principal informed that staff quarters for teaching and non-teaching staff, solar power plant of 25 KV and a computer centre are also under construction while other requirements have already been taken up and proposed to the UT Administration and LAHDC Kargil to ensure smooth functioning of the college.
Among other issues, the urgent need of an IGNOU study centre at GDC Zanskar also came up for discussion during the meeting.
