Chandigarh, July 31-
Haryana Power, Jails, and New & Renewable Energy Minister, Mr. Ranjit Singh said that a case has been registered against the person who was illegally supplying power to 45 farmhouses in Uttar Pradesh after stealing electricity in Faridabad district, and has been fined Rs. 1.04 crore. A case has been registered against six officers and employees of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVNL) involved in this case.
During a press conference today, Mr. Ranjit Singh said that when the corporation officers got a tip-off that some farmhouses located on the Uttar Pradesh border are involved in electricity theft, a raid was conducted at Kheri Kalan Sub-Division by a team constituted under the leadership of XEN, Mr. Shamsher Singh on July 16, 2020. After investigating, the team discovered that a resident of Faridabad, Pradeep Tyagi had taken an electricity connection and was illegally supplying electricity to 45 farmhouses across the state border in Uttar Pradesh through underground wiring.
Mr. Ranjit Singh said that during the investigation it was also found that this illegal work was being carried out with the alleged collusion of some officers and employees of the corporation. He said that a case has been registered in this matter at the Bhupani Police station of Faridabad district, and further investigations are underway. Among those against whom the case has been registered are former SDO, Sandeep Kundu and JE, Nishant Rohilla, present JE, Jai Jitendra Singh, outsourced staff ALM Devi Ram, and Kanhaiya Lal.
Giving further information, Mr. Ranjit Singh said that the Crime Branch of Haryana Police have arrested Deputy Superintendent, Dharmbir Singh of Gurugam jail for allegedly supplying intoxicants in jail apart from another person, Ravi aka Goldie. He said that the police recovered 225 grams of intoxicants and 11 SIM cards. Deputy Superintendent, Dharmbir Singh used to supply these items in the jail.
