Smart phones will play an important role in online learning of the students – Singla

Punjab School Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla thanked the Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh for the decision taken by the Cabinet under his leadership for the distribution of smart phones to the students studying in the government schools.
In a statement issued here today, he said that by taking the decision for distribution of smart phones to 1,73,823 students of Class XII, Capt. Lead government has fulfilled another promise.
Mr. Singla said that in view of the epidemic of Covid-19, the present circumstances has forced the school education department to provide online education. In these conditions, smart phones will be very useful for the students of class XII because many parents are not in the position to buy smart phone for their children due to poverty. Mr. Singla said that due to the board exams of class 12, it was important for the students to continue their education in all conditions and these smart phones will fulfill their needs.
It is to be mentioned here, that the consignment of about 50,000 phones is coming very soon and the state government has set a target to complete the distribution of these smart phones by November 2020. These smart phones have a variety of features. In addition to the touch screen and camera, these phones also have pre-loaded applications like ‘e-service app’. These will also include 11th and 12th class e-curriculum approved by the school education department. The purpose of the Scheme is to ensure digital access to the younger generation as well as their access to basic public services, education, career opportunities, skills development and employment opportunities through government applications.
