Chandigarh, September 3- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Mr. Jai Prakash Dalal said that the objective of bringing about self-reliance in the field of agriculture has been made so that farmers can become producers as well entrepreneurs. The State Government has made extensive plans in this direction.
Mr. Dalal said that when farmers and farming practices become industrialised then employment and self-employment opportunities would be available on large scale across the villages. He said that the agriculture sector is being strengthened by focusing on the small farmers and their problems.
He said that new schemes are being introduced for the farmers to reduce their dependence on Arthiyas. This time a new arrangement was made in the procurement process of Rabi crops of wheat and mustard and the payment of crops purchased was sent directly to farmers in their accounts.
However, earlier farmers used to get this payment through Arthiyas and the farmers did not know the exact amount of money paid.
He said that out of the total economic package of Rs 20 lakh crore announced by the Central Government, Rs 1 lakh crore has been kept for agricultural infrastructure and Rs. 3900 crore has been allocated for Haryana. Following this, the plans are being made for setting up small warehouses and agro based industries in the state.
Mr Jai Prakash Dalal said that keeping in view the importance of water conservation for future generations, Mera Pani Meri Virasat scheme has been implemented. Understanding the importance of this scheme, farmers have registered about 1,18,128 hectares of land at Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal, he added.
He said that similarly the Soil Health Cards should also be made available to farmers at nearby places, for which water and soil will be tested in laboratories of schools and colleges. Soil Health Cards would be issued after every three years for an area of about 70 lakh acres in the entire state to make farmers aware about the fertility of their land so that they can sow the crops accordingly.
