Chandigarh, August 17 – In view of the monsoon season, Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora has directed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to expedite the work of drainage of water from areas where rain water has accumulated.
The directions were given during a meeting with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) held under the Chairpersonship of Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora through video conferencing.
She said that there should be no shortage of water pumps in any area for drainage. If any problem arises, then the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) should contact the headquarters. She asked the Deputy Commissioners to conduct a physical inspection and submit a report on the number of ponds mentioning the area covered and Khasra number in their respective districts on priority basis within two days.
While taking up the issue of stubble burning she instructed the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that such incidents do not take place. She asked the Deputy Commissioners to involve Panchayats to prevent instances of stubble burning. She was apprised in the meeting that Nodal Officers have been appointed to prevent such cases and Custom Hiring Centres (CHCs) have been set up for farmers so that they can get agricultural machinery on rent in order to manage stubble.
