Chandigarh, July 29- Haryana Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Mr. Om Prakash Yadav visited Mother Teresa Saket Orthopedic Hospital, Panchkula and Saket Physiotherapy College and Rehabilitation Centre, Chandimandir, and reviewed the facilities there.
Mr. Yadav took information from the doctors about the artificial organs being made in the hospital and interacted with the patients admitted in the hospital enquiring about their well-being. The doctors told the Minister of State that different types of artificial organs are made here and are given to patients at a nominal price. The hospital director urged the Minister that there was a need for machines with latest technology and a new building for the workshop.
After consulting the doctors the Minister instructed the officers to prepare proposals for a new building for prosthetic and orthotic workshop and for machines with latest technology and necessary equipment so that better facilities can be provided to the patients by completing the necessary work at the earliest.
Mr. Yadav was apprised that Saket Hospital was a 30 bedded hospital and had an OPD of up to 400 patients per day. Besides, the hospital has X-ray machine, Operation Theatre, plaster and dressing rooms, prosthetic and orthotic workshop etc. So far, 78 patients have been treated free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat scheme here.
Apart from this, the Principal of Chandi Mandir, Saket Physiotherapy College, informed Mr. Yadav that undergraduate and postgraduate courses in physiotherapy are offered here which are presently being pursued by 118 students.
On this occasion, Social Justice and Empowerment Department Joint Director Mrs. Alka Yadav and Director of Saket Hospital, Mrs. Dr. Aparajita Sondh were also present.
