Chandigarh, September 4: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala has directed Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department to speed up the completion of work of various big projects being carried out by the department. While on one hand, Mr. Chautala has also given a stern warning to the construction agencies for not doing the work at the desired pace, on the other the officers concerned have also been directed to improve their working methods.
The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department, today reviewed the projects worth over Rs. 100 crore of the department and held a detailed discussion on every project being carried out by the department.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Department, Mr. Rajeev Arora and many senior officials and representatives of construction agencies were present on the occasion.
Mr. Chautala said that any construction agency which is not completing the work within the stipulated time period set for a project will be penalized. He also gave a stern warning to the officers who have a negligent attitude in dealing with the problems related to any project. The Deputy Chief Minister on behalf of the State Government assured that no project will get affected due to lack of funds.
In the meeting, Mr. Dushyant Chautala asked the reason for delay in construction of Yamuna Bridge connecting Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, which is being constructed on Faridabad-Greater Noida road.
On this, the Deputy Chief Minister was apprised that as from time to time construction activities are restricted by the National Greenery Tribunal, they are facing trouble to complete this project.
It was also informed in the meeting that Kunjpura-Karnal-Kaithal-Khanauri road from Chidav Mor to Kaithal would be widened from two-lane to four-lane and this road is targeted to be completed by March 21, 2021. Similarly, the Karnal-Meerut road will be widened to 6-lane / 4-lane and in this the bridges built on these roads will also be re constructed.
In the meeting the Deputy Chief Minister expressed displeasure over the delay in construction of Bhiwani Bypass connecting 4-lane road from Kharak to Bhiwani and Charkhi Dadri Road from Rohtak Road. He said that this should be completed as soon as possible.
The Deputy Chief Minister warned the construction agencies that if the work of construction of 4-lane Pinjore bypass, construction of Government Medical College at Koriyawas village, in Narnaul area and the work of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University project in Sonipat is not completed within the stipulated time period then they will be penalized.
After reviewing the construction work of about a dozen projects worth over Rs. 100 crore, Mr. Chautala said that now no excuse will be heard that any project has been delayed due to COVID-19 and the officers and construction agencies should ensure the completion of all these projects on priority basis so that people of the state can get the benefit of these projects.
