Chandigarh, August 6– Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that the Excise and Taxation Department will be kept updated with modern technology in future, which will not only increase the revenue earned from GST but also provide better services to the tax payers.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the portfolio of Excise and Taxation Department, said this after inaugurating the new system of ‘Model-2’ implementation of GST here today.  On this occasion, he also felicitated the IT team and officers who developed this model.  Additional Chief Secretary, Excise and Taxation Department, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Sh. Shekhar Vidyarthi and other officers of the department were present during the programme.

Addressing the officers of the Excise and Taxation Department, the Deputy Chief Minister said that by changing the state’s ‘GST Model-1’ to the new system of ‘Model-2’, the functioning of the department will now be more modern, faster and more efficient than before while providing better data quality.  He congratulated the officers of the department for the successful implementation of Model-2 in a short span of time.  He said that in the present technological era, along with the department, every employee and officer will also have to stay updated with new technology.

Sh. Dushyant Chautala said that Haryana has been a leading state in implementing tax reforms.  Our state was also the first state to implement the VAT Act.  Continuing its tradition of adopting new and improved systems, the state has recently decided to launch ‘Model-2’ mode of implementation of GST.  Now the process of the new system is complete and all the officers are working on the ‘BO-web portal’ developed by ‘GSTN’.

He said that the computer and other equipments of the Excise and Taxation Department would be upgraded for which instructions have already been given.  He said that if we provide the best software and hardware system to our officers, then only we will be able to provide the best services to the taxpayer.
